Veterans ServicesMichigan veterans are at risk for homelessness, unemployment, and physical and mental disabilities. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that over 57,000 veterans are without housing. Treating these special citizens with respect and value is of the utmost importance. Community Action Agencies in Michigan operate the Social Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF) program, an initiative in partnership with Veterans Affairs that aims to end homelessness among veterans. Community Action provides case management, help with rent and security deposits, and provides shelter to veterans that are transitioning into permanent housing.
