2017 Michigan Homelessness Sleep Out
Wednesday, November 08, 2017, 7:30 PM to Thursday, November 09, 2017, 7:00 AM EDT
Category: Events

Over 66,000 individuals – including seniors, single mothers, and children – experienced homelessness in Michigan last year. Untold others are just one medical emergency, one car accident, one missed mortgage payment away from losing their home. For those of us who have never faced housing instability, it can be hard to understand the overwhelming fear of not knowing where you are going to sleep at night.

On November 8, the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness and our Lansing area partners will hold the Homelessness Sleep Out. Elected officials, media, and other stakehodlers will have the opportunity to learn more about homelessness in our area and hear perspectives from service providers and those who have experienced homelessness. You will then spend one night either sleeping in a local shelter or outside with nothing more than a sleeping bag and cardboard box.

If you are an elected official or member of the media, please register. All others, please contact Laurel Burchfield at [email protected] // 517-853-3894 to learn more about how you can be involved.
