Summer Conference 2020: Partnership: The Power of Connection

Michigan Community Action's (MCA) annual Summer Conference will be July 28-30, 2020 at the beautiful Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, MI. Representatives from Michigan's Community Action Agencies, state and local government agencies, and other nonprofit partner organizations will come together for networking, workshops and immersive trainings about the causes, conditions and innovative solutions to poverty in Michigan.

This year’s conference theme, Partnership: The Power of Connection will provide a forum of session offerings on how agencies can leverage their power in the community, build strong coalitions, and forge effective partnerships with community stakeholders. There will also be several workshops on issues dealing with trauma, secondary trauma, and building a resilient community.

Agenda

The conference agenda is currently under development, but it will include a mixture of general and breakout sessions featuring speakers and topics that will resonate with CAA staff and board members who are interested in improving agency performance and their own personal effectiveness. In addition to the scheduled sessions and events that make up the conference, there are always ample opportunities for learning from peers and colleagues who share similar interests and responsibilities at their agencies.

Some of the speakers we’ve already confirmed include Charles Ballard, Ph.D., Professor of Economics at Michigan State University.

In addition, organizational development expert, trainer and former elected official, Laura Huth-Rhoades of do Good Consulting will be doing an Immersion Workshop Session, an all-new MCA conference experience; Amp up those Visual & Written Communications! This is a half-day hands on session designed to learn-while-doing and turn lackluster communications into unforgettable outreach powerhouses! (Pre-registration is required and limited), click here to learn more about this workshop.  To register for this workshop click here.

Plus, Laura will be facilitating a special workshop session sharing strategies to raise your organizations visibility and credibility with key community stakeholders.
